Radiesse® Volumizing Filler at Summit Medical Group
Healthy young skin contains collagen that gives it fullness and a smooth, supple appearance. As we age, our skin’s natural collagen breaks down, diminishing facial volume. This loss of volume leads to skin laxity and facial wrinkles, making your skin look and feel older.
The ideal way to reduce wrinkles is by replenishing lost volume. Radiesse® volumizing filler works with your own body in a natural way. Upon injection, it immediately adds volume to safely contour, correct, and rejuvenate facial features.
What makes Radiesse® truly remarkable is that with its patented calcium-based microsphere technology, it starts a process called neocollagenesis, stimulating your body to produce new collagen around the injection area.
Radiesse® is an FDA-approved, next-generation dermal filler that is setting a new standard for the correction of facial lines and wrinkles. In just one syringe, many patients can achieve long-lasting youthful results.

Frequently Asked Questions about Radiesse®
What is Radiesse®?
Radiesse® volumizing filler is an injectable dermal filler composed of smooth calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a water-soluble gel. Immediately upon injection, Radiesse® volumizing filler restores volume and fullness to diminish the signs of aging in the face and hands.
The cosmetic results are soft and natural-looking, and feel like your own tissue.
Because it is not animal-derived, Radiesse® does not contain any animal proteins, reducing the risk of allergic reaction and animal-based disease transmission. Radiesse® does not require pre-injection testing for allergies.
How does Radiesse® work?
Collagen formed around CaHA microspheres
Radiesse® volumizing filler is injected into the skin in a minimally invasive procedure. Injection of the product provides an immediate smoothing and lifting of wrinkles and folds.
Over time, the gel is absorbed, and fibroblasts, the collagen-producing cells of the skin, appear. The process of neocollagenesis begins, stimulating the gradual growth of your own collagen. The collagen that forms, results in longer-lasting, natural correction.
Eventually the CaHA microspheres naturally degrade and are removed by the body's normal processes.
How long does Radiesse® last?
The natural, youthful results may last a year or more in many patients.
Where can Radiesse® be used?
Radiesse® is used in the face to correct facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds and marionette lines, to restore fullness to the cheeks, to provide lift to the brows, or to add volume to depressed areas, such as the temples.
Radiesse® can also be injected in the backs of the hands to add volume and minimize the look of veins and tendons that prematurely age hand appearance.
What can I expect with Radiesse® treatment?
Treatment with Radiesse® volumizing filler is a quick, in-office procedure with minimal downtime. Prior to injection, Radiesse® is mixed with a small amount of a local anesthetic to minimize any discomfort during the procedure.
Radiesse® is eased under the skin to instantly restore volume and smooth away the wrinkles and folds on your face.
How long does the treatment take?
A treatment normally takes about 30 minutes, although time may vary depending upon the area being treated.
How soon will I see results?
With Radiesse® results are seen immediately and are long-lasting as the biocompatible Radiesse® works with your body to produce your skin’s own new collagen.
Are there any potential side effects?
Side effects may include slight bruising, redness or swelling at the injection site. In rare cases nodules may form under the skin.
Who should not use Radiesse®?
Radiesse® should not be used in patients who have severe allergies marked by a history of anaphylaxis or history or presence of multiple severe allergies. Radiesse® should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its components. Because it’s mixed with a local anesthetic prior to injection, Radiesse® should not be used in patients with a history of allergies to lidocaine. Radiesse® should be used in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
