Emily M. Altman, MD, FAAD: Founder and Medical Director, Advanced Skin Wisdom

Dr. Emily Altman is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist who specializes in medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology in Livingston, NJ. A graduate of the New Jersey Medical School, Dr. Altman completed her residency in dermatology at Columbia University in 1997 and a fellowship in dermatopathology at New York University in 1998.

Dr. Altman has published numerous scientific articles in medical journals and is a member of a number of professional organizations. Dr. Altman is affiliated with the Saint Barnabas Medical Center, and has been in private practice at Comprehensive Dermatology Center since 2000. Dr Altman was the Chief of Dermatology Section of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center from 2000 to 2010. Dr. Altman was also named one of New Jersey’s Top Doctors by New Jersey Monthly magazine.

Dr. Altman is an avid gardener. She spends much of her free time attending to her floral gardens at her home in Livingston, NJ. “I regard my vocation and avocation as a direct result of being a highly visual person,” says Dr. Altman. She draws similarities between her two passions, dermatology and gardening. Both require nurturing, proper diet and suitable environmental factors in order to thrive. This love and talent for both dermatology and aesthetics naturally led to the addition of laser and cosmetic dermatology at Dr. Altman’s practice.
